I was like damn, that’s a really low number. Then I noticed something else.
I’m not sure how it works in New Jersey, if they have the year sticker in the window, but if I didn’t know any better I’d say this is expired.

A quick google says that the assembly plate means the owner is a member of NJ Legislature. The letters on the left are their initials.

No because this is Georgia.

Interesting, but is it expired?

State govt. plates mean they get left alone by cops unless theyre truly dangerous. so they get to speed a bit cause they cant be late for lawmakin.

I dunno. But given their status I can image that they can get away with it.

This is an important government job too!

Yup you need to be in a hurry to do nothing.

Special enough where laws don’t apply to them.

Or, if you’re the governor, you can just get mad at the trooper and tell her to “just let us get down the road.” BTW, this is the guy that Trump has picked to lead the Dept. of Energy, the office that is in charge of all of our nuclear weapons.

It’s NJ, we disregard most laws involving road safety anyway

Just like Texas and front plates.

Oh no we are nazi’s about front plates! But if youre doing 20 over the speed limit down the parkway? You’re fine

One of their LED strings is out. They should fix that.

I think one functions as a turn signal, we were in the turn lane at the time.

IIRC, they both flash when signaling.

Based on the current members, it could be...
Michael Carroll , District 25?
Marlene Caride , District 36 (Car ride!)

Yeah, it seems like 20% of the population just doesn’t bother and gets away with it. So why don’t we just get rid of them?

I have no idea, I was going to put the front plate on the M3, then I never got around to it, then I never got pulled over so I decided to not put them on.

US Congressmen have built in protection in the Constitution:
he Senators and Representatives...shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony, and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same
Though I think the courts have generally held that this exemption only applies to civil cases.

We did away with license plate stickers a few years ago, so older plates still have stickers on them, but newer ones don’t. That’s why plates with Years like “07" or “09" are still valid and totally legal.

If NJ is anything like CT, we did away with the registration & emission stickers years ago. From my understanding it was to save about $80,000 a year for each.

Front plates are garbage and should be banned in the constitution.

Hahahaha that driver — same car and plate — was in the next lane a few weeks back, waiting to turn left on 140 in Alpharetta
It had me wondering, “If that’s *really* your car, and your tag, aren’t you too important to be this far from Jersey on a weekday?”

I’m sure there would be some sort of controls against abuse of this passage. buy a lambo and do 150 to work every day?

The courts have interpreted it very narrowly, so it probably wouldn’t actually hold up. Also, even if they can’t be held, they can still be fined, or arrested when Congress is not in session. The law exists mainly to prevent rigging votes by arresting opposition voters.
